Après avoir décidé d'arrêter sa carrière dans ce domaine en 2004, pour se consacrer à la réalisation de son film et à sa marque Tom Ford (lunettes, prêt-à-porter, accessoires pour homme et ligne de produits de beauté), il semblerait qu'il envisage réellement un come-back.
En effet, Tom Ford aurait recruté des pointures du milieu: Caroline Tixier (qui a travaillé pour Givenchy), Pablo Coppola (créateur d'accessoires pour McQueen) et Michael Lewis (créateur de chaussures qui a travaillé pour Gucci (à l'époque de Tom Ford), Louis Vuitton et Burberry).
